Your voice is half the experience in team games, and the G PRO X puts real effort into it. Plug in the included USB sound card and you get Blue Voice in G HUB: a noise reducer, compressor and limiter that clean up the detachable mic so you sound less like a walkie-talkie and more like a streamer. That processing needs a Windows PC with G HUB running.

The 50mm PRO G drivers are tuned for clear imaging, which helps with hearing where footsteps and reloads are coming from. The same sound card handles 7.1 and object-based surround, plus a 5-band EQ you can save to onboard memory. That last part is aimed at tournament players who can’t install software on event PCs, but it’s useful at home too.

Comfort details are thoughtful. It comes with two sets of pads, leatherette for better noise isolation and velour for breathability, and the frame uses an aluminum fork and steel headband. A mobile cable with an inline mic and a carry bag are included. On console or Mac you lose the Blue Voice and surround features, so the main reasons to buy it are tied to a Windows PC. For PC players who chat a lot and want a durable wired headset, it’s one of the best-rounded choices.
