SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 Gaming Keyboard

SteelSeries kicked off the adjustable-switch trend with the original Apex Pro, and the Gen 3 TKL piles on features for players who want to tune every key. It uses OmniPoint 3 Hall effect switches with 40 levels of actuation, from 0.1 mm to 4.0 mm, and a 45g bottom-out force.

Three modes do the heavy lifting. Rapid Trigger resets a key the moment you let go, so stops and direction changes are quicker. Rapid Tap snaps to whichever of two keys you pressed most recently, which helps strafe and dodge without the two inputs canceling out. Protection Mode is the clever one: it reduces accidental presses on keys next to the one you meant to hit, which SteelSeries pitches as the end of accidentally firing your ultimate. QuickSet can load a pro-tuned config automatically when your game launches.

The small OLED display in the corner lets you change settings from the keyboard itself, and profiles save onboard, so you don’t need to alt-tab to make a change. This version is wired. With this many options, the setup is more involved than a plug-and-play board, and someone who just types and plays casually won’t use half of it. For players who live in ranked queues and like to fine-tune their gear, it’s one of the most complete keyboards available.
