MMO raiders and anyone who juggles a lot of binds will appreciate the six dedicated macro keys running down the left side of the BlackWidow V4 X. They sit right next to your left hand, so a rotation, a consumable or a stream shortcut is one press away instead of a reach to the top row.
This version uses Razer’s Yellow mechanical switches. They’re linear with a light 45g actuation force and a 1.2 mm actuation point, and Razer built in sound dampeners so they’re quieter than most mechanical switches. Inside the case there’s a layer of foam under the circuit board plus lubricated stabilizers, which cuts down on the hollow ping some keyboards make. The result is a board that sounds fuller and calmer than you might expect.
You also get a multi-function roller with media keys for volume and brightness, and per-key Chroma RGB that syncs with a lot of games. It’s a full-size board, so it takes up more room than a tenkeyless one, and the keycaps are doubleshot ABS, which keeps legends from wearing off but can develop a shine over time. Fans of a crisp, clicky sound should look at a different switch. For a full keyboard that handles gaming and long typing sessions, it’s well rounded.
