Sony’s pro controller is built for PS5 players who spend most of their time in competitive games. The DualSense Edge keeps the feel of the standard DualSense and adds the kind of tuning you’d normally get from a third-party pro pad.

The back buttons are the main reason people upgrade. There are two sets of swappable back buttons, and they can be mapped to any other input, so you can jump, crouch or reload without taking your thumbs off the sticks. In a shooter, that’s the difference between aiming while you slide and losing your target for a split second. Trigger travel is adjustable too: shorter for faster shots in an FPS, longer for fine throttle control in racing games.

The stick modules are replaceable, which matters because stick drift is the most common way controllers die. Replacement modules are sold separately, and three types of stick caps are included to suit different grips. You can remap or disable any button and save setups to profiles you can swap on the fly. Casual players won’t use most of these features, and those replacement stick modules are an extra purchase. For ranked play on PS5, where every input counts, it’s the controller to get.
