An ultrawide changes how certain games feel. Racing sims show more of the track, strategy games fit more of the map, and story games look almost cinematic. Samsung’s 34-inch Odyssey G5 gets you there with an ultrawide WQHD resolution and a 1000R curve that wraps the edges into your peripheral vision.

The wider screen also works like two monitors joined without the gap down the middle, which is handy if you keep a game on one side and Discord or a guide on the other. It runs at 165Hz with a 1ms (MPRT) response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium reduces tearing and stutter, with low framerate compensation to keep things smooth when your frame rate dips.

It’s a VA panel with HDR10 support. VA panels tend to have deeper blacks than IPS, which helps in darker scenes, but they can show some smearing in very fast dark motion. Not every game supports the ultrawide aspect ratio either, so some will show black bars at the sides, and competitive shooters can feel odd with that much screen. The extra pixels also need a reasonably capable graphics card to hold high frame rates. For immersive single-player games and a productive desk, it’s a striking upgrade.
